Speakers
matt canlis
Keynote speaker/Conference pastor
Matt Canlis is the delighted father of Chapman, Madeleine, Iona, and Amie Kate. His teamwork with their mother Julie made this possible. Matt is also a pastor at Trinity Church in Wenatchee, Washington State. His previous decade in a Scottish parish led to the documentary film Godspeed, and its outdoor sequel Backyard Pilgrim, a guided tour of your own neighborhood answering God's first question: "Where are you?
Aswan morris
Keynote speaker
Dynamic. Authentic. Passionate. These are a few ways the Brooklyn native Aswan Morris is described. Aswan is said to be a rare combo of power and approachability. Currently living in Harlem, NY, Aswan is husband to his wife Heather and father to his four amazing kids, Genesis, Chayse, Aswan Jr., and Axel. As a wordsmith, Aswan loves using the spoken word to enrich, challenge, and encourage his audiences.
In order to chart the journey ahead we need to look back at how the first-century church charted a new world. What we once knew has changed and where we are going has only been envisioned. We will explore the mindset and methodologies of navigating the new world.
Tope Koleoso
Keynote speaker
Tope Koleoso has been the lead Pastor for Jubilee Church London since 2005, which is a multicultural church with over 70 nationalities represented across three sites near London, England. Tope cares deeply for God’s church and is passionate about equipping other pastors for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.
From Lagos, Nigeria, Tope has seen firsthand Young Life’s work in Africa and is committed to growing a global church. He brings extensive ministry experience and, even more, a heart to listen to where God’s Spirit is moving and to care for the lost.
Newt Crenshaw
Keynote speaker
Newt Crenshaw’s introduction to Young Life began with his parents, who volunteered with the ministry for over three decades. Their involvement led Crenshaw to serve as a Young Life leader while in college and after, when he relocated to Virginia for a sales role with the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. There, he also met his wife, Susan. They married in 1987 and have three sons and a daughter — Drew, Zachary, Luke and Jensen.
Newt brings international experience and a strong background in leadership, people development and strategic planning to Young Life, along with a clear focus on carrying the Gospel to young people.
Tanita maddox
Workshop Speaker
Dr. Tanita Maddox is a second-generation Young Life kid and leader. Born and raised in Arizona, she now serves as an Associate Regional Director for the Mountain West Region. She lives in Spokane, WA with her husband of 16 years, Ashley, and their sons Camden and Phoenix. She completed a Masters of Christian Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary and Doctorate of Ministry at Phoenix Seminary. Her doctoral thesis was in sharing the gospel with Generation Z.
In her workshop, we will focus on questions that Gen Z is asking and how we can answer those questions with the Gospel. We are going to tap into what is Good News specifically to this generation of adolescents. We are going to dive into what makes this generation of adolescents tick and how we can best speak their language and share Jesus with them.
Jacque abadie
Workshop Speaker
Jacque serves as an Associate Regional Director for the Front Range Region as well as the Divisional Coordinator for Learning and Leadership for the Northwest. He has been on Young Life staff for 20 years and lives in Littleton, CO. He is married to Blaire and they have two kids, Turner and Ella.
To wholeheartedly develop people, we must fight for the highest possible good of those we lead. In his workshop, we will consider some simple tools to ensure we give our best to the staff, volunteers, and kids we serve.
Shelley sadler
Program Director
Shelley is from Denver, Colorado, and has served on Young Life staff for 34 years. Shelley has served in a number of different roles, including Associate Area Director, Co-Area Director, Area Director, Divisional Women’s Leadership Council, Team Leader, Special Assistant to the President, and (currently), Senior Mission Specialist.
Naturally, Shelley's journey in YL has screamed of God’s faithfulness in both the joys in life and ministry, as well as a handful of “bumps in the road”. Shelley loves being a part of our Lord bringing people to Himself…what a gift.
The loves of her life include her family, music, walking with her pup (Libby) and the kids we serve.
Anomalous day
Worship Band
With their gospel-influenced harmonies, bluegrass breakdowns, sweet acoustic melodies, and contemporary classic anthems, Anomalous Day is a vibrant, intentionally multi-ethnic musical collective. Rev. Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. once said that “the most segregated hour of Christian America is eleven o’clock on Sunday morning.” They are asking and answering the question - what if it wasn’t?!
Anomalous Day creates space and opportunities for people to experience the freedom, healing, and intimacy of Christ through worship. They are also big on community and friendship. Folks that get invited to be a part of the collective have to fit like family into this tightly-knit group, before anyone grabs an instrument or a microphone. They believe that if they can love and trust each other as family first, they can accomplish anything.
