Personal Reflection

  1. “Mission doesn’t begin with us, it begins with God.” What does this mean in the context of your call to mission?
  2. When was the last time you “heard these truths as if for the first time”? Spend some time remembering that first love …
  3. Go on a prayer walk around a school or neighborhood.
  4. Make a prayer map, or spend time in prayer with the one you already have. Share your map with another person to pray over with you.

Group Discussion / Cabin Time

  1. What difference does it make if we start with “sharing God’s missionary heart” as we think about our mission and vision?
  1. Dr. Davis talks about being Trinitarian in mission:

Compelled by the Father's love

Convinced by Jesus’ story

Controlled by the Holy Spirit

In Young Life, our message and proclamation centers on Jesus’ story … It’s who we are! In what ways might our understanding of our mission be deepened and enhanced by seeing ourselves as compelled by the Father’s love and controlled by the Holy Spirit?

Live Session #2

Going Deeper

Personal Reflection

  1. Reflect on times when you have followed God’s call to go … and how He met you in that!

When you first understood this call and stepped out in obedience

When you were called to a new place, role or group

  1. How/ Where has God been calling you to go next — whether right where you are, or otherwise?
  2. Cracks in our own lives can become canyons as a result of the isolation, loneliness, potential lack of honesty and vulnerability that often characterize the life of a missionary. The invitation of Psalm 139 is to "search me, O God, and know my heart ... see if there be any wicked way in me ... " Are there places in your life where you are hiding these vulnerabilities that may keep you from your call to be a healthy missionary? What steps can you take to bring things into the light, to place your burden at the Lord’s feet.

Group Discussion / Cabin Time

  1. Is there anyone in your division attending their first GLC? Here are some ways to make it special for them:

Invite them to the front of the room or pin them on Zoom and ask veteran staff to pray, one by one, for each.

Speak blessings – invite staff to share a Scripture or a blessing for these staff as they begin their journey in senior leadership. Again, you can do this over Zoom through the chat or in person with the staff at the center or front of the room.
